What are the eligibility criteria for the UPTET?

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2024, the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is an examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh, India. The eligibility criteria for UPTET may vary slightly from year to year, so it is advisable to refer to the official notification or website for the most up-to-date information. However, here are the general eligibility criteria:

  1. Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.

  2. Educational Qualification: a. For Primary Level (Class 1 to 5): The candidate should have completed a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or a Diploma in Education (D.Ed) from a recognized institution. OR b. For Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8): The candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree. OR The candidate should have completed a 2-year BTC (Basic Training Certificate) or a 2-year Certificate in Education (C.Ed) or a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

  3. Age Limit: There is no maximum age limit to appear for the UPTET.

  4. Minimum Qualifying Marks: To be considered eligible, candidates must obtain a minimum qualifying percentage of marks in the UPTET examination. The specific percentage may vary depending on the category (general, SC/ST, OBC, etc.).

It's important to note that these eligibility criteria are subject to change, and the conducting authority may introduce new criteria or make amendments in the future. Therefore, I recommend referring to the official UPTET notification or the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board's website for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
