NEET is an acronym for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. It is a national-level exam conducted for students who want to pursue medical courses in India. NEET is the only entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, veterinary and other medical courses in various medical colleges across the country. NEET was introduced in 2013 to replace the multiple entrance exams that were previously held by different states and institutions. NEET aims to ensure a uniform standard of medical education and reduce the stress and confusion among aspirants. NEET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) once a year, usually in May. The exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Zoology. The duration of the exam is three hours and the maximum marks are 720. NEET is one of the most competitive exams in India, with more than 15 lakh candidates appearing for it every year.
